‘I don’t feel that it is necessary to know exactly what I am. The main interest in life and work is to become someone else that you were not in the beginning’ – Michel Foucault
This piece represents the process of self-actualization and finding one’s self. The three apples represent past, present and future forms of identity. It can be taken as a transition or maturing. The reflections in the foreground mirror the current state of being while the background show a hint of the opposing hue, representing both energies. The future state in all of us that has the potential to be, and the lingering past self that stays with us – both influencing our current identity.
