‘I’d rather be painting. This self-portrait speaks about the struggle of an artist/woman/mother/wife when trying to fit the mould that society places on us. The unfinished dishes and basket of laundry are placed in the background as they are so in my mind. Portions of the gridlines are left visible as a statement against the exclusivity or pretentiousness of the art world.’
