The beauty of art lies in its ability to become significant through emotions, associations, and interpretations that are highly personal and subjective in nature. Through my practice I seek to create work that prompts the viewer to pause and connect with their own experiences and memories, to uncover and find meaning in a world that can feel fast-paced and chaotic, to find moments of connection and meaning whilst also navigating the larger societal issues that surround us.

I aim to capture those barely perceptible moments, thoughts caught on the edge of recollection, things partly remembered and reconstructing them in unexpected ways. The intention of my work is to offer a glimpse into the amorphous and ambiguous nature of time and memory. Instead of focusing on definitive form, I aim to explore the fluidity and mutability of these perceptions and to spark conversations and contemplations that extend beyond the confines of the gallery walls. I approach my painting through the methodical process of layering. Working on several paintings at once, I allow each to evolve at its own pace. I etch the composition into plaster, and then start building the work through a cycle of erasure and addition, gradually building a surface. This interplay between what remains and what has passed creates a rich and charged picture plane that holds a history and narrative of its own. Rather than providing definitive statements or narrative hints, I want the viewer to be drawn in to and connect with the work in their own way. To bring their own story and experiences to the work, to impress upon it their own recollections and understanding, for their own past to imprint on the piece.
