A little bit about me: I am a graduate of Literature and Creative Writing, History of Art and Textile Design. The exploration of these different creative mediums, as well as my own connection with nature, widely influence my oil paintings, from the poetry within them to the textures I so enjoy.
Through landscapes, I explore how forms interact in nature and reflect on our response to these interactions. How we create different connections with our own emotions and state of mind, dependant on where we are and what we can see around us. Finding recurrent themes of serene solitude, vastness and a play between movement and stillness, I work intuitively, building layers freely with a lot of movement in textured palette knife strokes. The enrichment to life from art to me is the depth of reflection brought on by these forms, colours and texture… or, sometimes, simply transporting us back to a place, a time, a feeling.
